Stellar 9-person Selection Committee Signs on for 4th Year of Climate Awards
Bill McKibben to host for 2nd year

The American Climate Leadership Awards announces the 2023 Selection Committee which includes leaders from various sectors who are dedicated to climate change awareness and solutions: International environmental advocate and eco-living expert Laura Turner Seydel, 35th Mayor of Salt Lake City Jackie Biskupski, Hip Hop Caucus President and CEO Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., Earth Uprising Founder Alexandria Villaseñor, Actor and Environmental Activist and Author Ed Begley, Youth climate activist Daphne Frias, Mothers Out Front Fresno Community Organizer LaTisha Harris and Assistant Professor in the Christina Lee Brown Environment Institute at the University of Louisville Natasha DeJarnett will select this year’s finalists. Author, activist, environmentalist and Third Act founder Bill McKibben will chair the Committee for the second year.

The program — which provides $175,000 in cash prizes to further climate work — encourages individuals and organizations to share their successful climate programming in an effort to put forward effective climate solutions so others can learn from and replicate their work. 

The application/nomination form will be available starting on September 15, 2022.

The purpose of the American Climate Leadership Awards, hosted by ecoAmerica, is to recognize, reward and share best practices on climate change advocacy and action nationwide. The Awards provide money, support, and recognition for real climate leadership. Individuals and organizations selected as semifinalists have achieved success in building some meaningful political resolve for climate action at local, regional, and national levels, in ways that are replicable, while demonstrating diversity, inclusion, and justice.
