St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach, FL is among 10 American Climate Leadership Award finalists to be recognized at the American Climate Leadership Awards Broadcast on April 16.
The initiative of Creation Care at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is to weave Creation Care into the fabric of parish life and local community in the areas of sustainability, education, community partnerships, service, environmental justice, and worship. They make the connection that the natural world is a gift from God for which we should show gratitude by caring for it and using its resources responsibly. The church has developed more than a dozen strong community partners who come out to events as attenders, presenters, and project participators. On campus, they’re producing power with a new 90-panel solar array, eliminating most single-use kitchen items, and recycling plastic film through the Trex Challenge.
