Janice Evans Hawkins is among 10 American Climate Leadership Award finalists to be recognized at the American Climate Leadership Awards Broadcast on April 16.
Nurse Evans Hawkins has worked as a climate activist and educator, mobilizing the nursing workforce for climate change advocacy. Using multiple platforms and established partnerships with national and international organizations to expand the reach to nurses everywhere, she educates and prepares nurses as climate activists. She equips nurses with replicable strategies, knowledge, skills, and resources to mitigate climate change as it relates to population health, health equity, and justice.
As a Sigma Nursing Former Liaison to the United Nations and ICN Certified Global Nurse Consultant, she has influenced and reached nurses globally and inspired actions. Sigma represents 100,000 nurses from over 100 countries and has >70,000 social media followers. From publications and invited keynotes across the globe to serving as a leading facilitator of Sigma’s Global Advocacy Academy, she magnifies climate action.
